DESCRIPTION

“The 34th International Symposium on Shock Waves (ISSW34) was held from Jul 16 to 21, 2023, in Daegu, Korea. The ISSW34 covers theoretical, experimental, and numerical studies of shock wave and related phenomena for both fundamental problems and practical applications. The 29th international Colloquium on the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems (ICDERS2023) was held from Jul 23 to 28, 2023, in Seoul National University Siheung Campus, Korea. The colloquium has been the premier international forum for the presentation of scientific contributions in the fields of explosions, unsteady combustion, and detonation. Cutting-edge combustion/detonation research studies presented in these two conferences will be introduced in this sharing session. These research topics will be covered: continuous detonation, two-phase liquid-fuel detonation, detonation initiation, and solid-fuel combustion/detonation.” - Dr. Huang Xin, Senior Research Scientist, TL@NUS

“The biennial ISSW is a prestigious conference devoted to shock wave related presentations ranging from fundamental studies to practical applications. The 34th edition of ISSW (ISSW34) was held in Daegu, South Korea from 16th to 21st July 2023. In this talk, I will share several interesting presentations and the latest developments in the fields of research pertinent to the Center for Aerodynamics and Propulsion at TL@NUS. I will also present about the current works taking place within the research groups I came across during the conference.“ - Dr. Ng Jee Hann, Research Scientist, TL@NUS

“The International Symposium on Shock Waves (ISSW) is held biannually all over the world, covering theoretical, experimental and numerical studies, both basic and applied, of shock wave and related phenomena. The 34th ISSW was held in Daegu, Korea, July 16-21, 2023. I will share on a few research topics that may be applicable to the Propulsion group at TL@NUS. “ - Mr. Marc Ng Wei Shun, Associate Scientist, TL@NUS

“The 2023 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting – AP-S/URSI 2023 was held f from July 23–28, 2023, at the Oregon Convention Center and Hyatt Regency, in Portland, Oregon, USA, the City of Roses. This conference is cosponsored by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) and the US National Committee (USNC) for the International Union of Radio Science (URSI). It is intended to provide an international forum for the exchange of information on state-of-the-art research on antennas, propagation, electromagnetic engineering, and radio science. This sharing session is to provide what I have learnt from IEEE AP-S/USRI 2023, covering conference information, session highlights, and observations. Taking this opportunity, I will also share what I have learnt from European Microwave Conference 2023, which is Europe’s largest conference dedicated to microwave, millimetre-wave and terahertz devices, systems and technologies.” - Dr. Wang Chao-Fu, Principal Research Scientist, TL@NUS.
