Doctoral Thesis: Compact and Broadband Dipole Antennas and Arrays
The thesis work involves design and development of compact and wideband dipole antennas and arrays in sub-6 GHz frequency band. Mode compression is utilized to achieve wide bandwidth in a compact sized antenna. New configurations and techniques for mode compression of dipole antenna are proposed. The proposed antennas provide better performance in terms of larger bandwidth, improved radiation pattern and smaller antenna size.
Industry-Funded Projects:
- Broadband VUHF Antennas for Handheld Applications (Funded by CRL-BEL)
- Objective: Design and development of compact and broadband antennas with stable omnidirectional radiation pattern over the desired band. The desired frequency range was huge (frequency ratio of approx. 1:17) and size was restricted to λL/17 at the lowest frequency of the operational band.
- Lumped element loaded monopole and helical antennas were designed, developed, and tested to satisfy the design requirements.
- Design and Development of Antennas for Communication at TV White Space Frequency Band (Funded by MeitY)
- Objective: Study of compact and broadband antennas for TVWS band 470 – 698 MHz.
- Various compact and broadband configurations of stacked microstrip, and Log-periodic dipole array antennas were designed, and parametric studies were presented to analyze the design aspects of the antennas.
- Design of Wideband Antenna for FOPEN Radar (Funded by LRDE, DRDO)
- Objective: To carry out research on the design of antennas which offer wideband performance in VHF band for foliage penetration radar applications.
- Various configurations of loaded monopole and LPDAs were studied, and parametric analysis were presented to analyze the design aspects of the antennas.
