Cryptography Programme

Programme Overview

Cryptography is a main core for providing information security, network security, wireless security, secure cloud computing, cryptocurrency, etc. Cryptography is also a multi-disciplinary field which involves mathematics, computer sciences and engineering for protection of information and privacy.

The cryptography programme conducts research in cryptography from theory to applications, in particular in the following areas:

- Cryptographic algorithm/protocol design, including: symmetric cryptography and public-key cryptography
- Cryptographic algorithm/protocol analysis
- Post-Quantum Cryptography
- Secure and efficient implementation of cryptographic algorithm/protocol
- Applied cryptography for securing information and privacy protection

Currently, the programme focuses on post-quantum cryptography which is mostly based on NP-hard problems and is believed to be secure against quantum computers. The programme focuses on design, analysis and efficient implementation of the following topics:

- Code-based Cryptography
- Lattice-based Cryptography
- Isogeny-based Cryptography
