Backgroud
Dr. Huang Sunan received his Ph.D degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, 1994. From 1995 to 1997, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, University of California at Berkeley. During 1997-2012, he was a research fellow in the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore. During 2013-2014, he was a visiting professor in Hangzhou Dianzi University. He is currently a senior research scientist in Temasek Laboratories, National University of Singapore. He has co-authored several patents and four books entitiled "Precision Motion Control" (2nd Edition), "Modeling and Control of Precise Actuators", "Applied Predictive Control" and "Neural Network Control: Theory and Applications". He is a member of the editorial board, Advances in Mechanical Engineering.


Research Interests
Fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control; Adaptive control;
Collision avoidance and control of multi-UAVs.


Awards and Honors
2018 The Final-Year-Project student Tan Chee Yong (I co-supervised him with Prof.K.K.Tan) received FYP Poster Presentation Award (1st Prize) from Electrical & Computer Engineering Dept., NUS.

2017 Outstanding Reviewer Award from Elsevier

2009 Best Paper Award at Automation , the IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation

2008 Best Student Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics

2005 Recognition Award for Champion Team - Supervisor, TSS 1st Singapore Engineering Design Challenge

1992 Professor Chia-Chi Tsui Control Theory and Applications Paper Prize at Shanghai Jiaotong University (2nd prize)
