Mr CHIUN, Wei Ming Jimmy, Associate Scientist, email: jimmychiun@nus.edu.sg
Jimmy obtained his B.Eng (Highest Distinction) in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2022. During his time as an undergraduate, he was part of NUS Engineering Scholars (E-Scholars) Programme, a premier engineering programme at NUS. The E-Scholars programme provided students with exceptional potential with opportunities to develop as well-rounded leaders and innovators. He was also a resident of Residential College 4 where he developed system thinking skills, that aims to address challenging problmes that humankind faces.
He is currently an associate scientist of the Centre of Flight Sciences, at Temasek Laboratories (TL) at NUS, under the NUS-DSO Graduate programme. Concurrently, he is a Ph.D. student of NUS Mechanical Engineering department under the supervision of Assistant Prof.Guillaume Sartoretti and Dr Rodney Teo. Prior to joining TL, he was a Final Year Project (FYP) student with TL, under the supervision of Dr Chan Woei Leong. His FYP project involves designing collaborative drones that could deliver a payload while navigating complex terrains. This project is also part of the SIngapore Amazing Flying Machine 2022 competition, Category D2, where his team clinched the 2nd runner-up.
Jimmy’s research focuses on cooperation learning for large teams of intelligent agents, that make individual decisions based on their understanding of their current environment. His work involved researching on multi-agent deep reinforcement methods to control Unmmaned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) swarm. He is interested in swarm autonomy, especially deep learning methods.
